Music is my Life, music is my Jam, music is my Vibe.
More than a decade before my music career, my passion materialized as words. Verses in my head, initially finding form in poetry. Then, as I challenged myself to put melody to those words, I found my vision and began songwriting professionally. My work led me to the Spot Studios, where my first single, “What Love Doesn’t Look Like,” was recorded with artist Mawule and producers Glenn Sawyer and Rich Veltrop.
I created my first instrumental, “Elation,” with Music Composer & Producer Jarrod Headly. Jarrod has composed and engineered for television, on networks such as, ESPN, CBS, CBS sports, FOX, History Channel, and Discovery channel. He’s also worked on the TV programs ESPN Monday Night Football, NCAA, and MTV’s Catfish.
I was also given the opportunity to collaborate with New York music producer Anthony Mirabella on my songs “Gravity,” “Ghosting,” and “Toxic.” Anthony’s scope of accomplishments ranges from work in film and television, with the bulk of his work recorded inside The Practice Worldwide in New York City. His producer and writer credits can be found on movies including, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” & “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” and even with sports entertainment venues such as WWE.
Through the Practice Worldwide, I was introduced to producer/songwriter Jason “Tenroc” Cornet. His skill set features instruments like piano and bass guitar, as well as technical aspects like sound engineering. He has worked with me on multiple demos, and has been nominated for two Grammys.
In 2024, I completed The Faith Project, my exploration into Afro-Gospel, with Nigerian producer Egar Boi. Egar Boi’s production career has witnessed an insurmountable amount of growth over a short span and he is someone to follow closely. His work speaks for itself. Egar Boi asserts that his skills of singing and songwriting help the way he builds songs step by step in production. Just like most producers groomed in Nigeria, Egar Boi creates the Afrobeats sound but is not restricted by it. Currently, he is working with me on my EP, Sepia.
At 64, I have no intentions of slowing down. I’m currently ghostwriting with some amazing artists from the UK and just released my new single, “Him & Her.” More than anything, I want my career to be an inspiration that you’re never too old to follow your dreams. Age is just a number.
